History

Wondervault Games was founded in 2026 in Barcelona, Spain, with a clear mission: to create beautifully crafted indie games that deliver quality you can feel and fun you can't forget. Bridging approaches, knowledge and strategy from big corp but tactics and development adapted to the guerrilla-style of indie sizes and dev budgets.

The studio's debut title, Oneiron Expanse, is a deckbuilder roguelite with a powerful narrative that flows with the game, complementing the experience without driving it or distracting players from the core battle.

Development began in early 2026, blending deep card mechanics inspired in strong mechanics like Magic: The Gathering but moving the deckbuilding aspects to a flowing activity that happens as you play, and not noly between matches. The game develops in a dream-world setting where human laws and moral constructs do not exist, having the player face the consequences of the absence of "good" or "evil, and the inherent violence of an alien nature that is indifferent to suffering.

From the start, Wondervault has developed alongside its community in the open; co-designing features, incorporating player feedback, and sharing every step of the journey through regular development updates.

Team

Juan Moya — Co-Founder

After twenty years of engineering journey, Juan Moya is returning to the roots of why we play.

Juan spent over a decade at King, most recently as a Senior Director of Engineering for Candy Crush Saga. While he mastered the technical precision required to run some of the world's most-played mobile games, he has always viewed engineering as an "art of balance" where data meets intuition. His journey has taken him from robotics and medical imaging research to global studio leadership, always looking for the fundamental value behind every technical challenge.

Now, he is channeling that artisan’s perspective into Wondervault Games, an indie studio based in Barcelona.

Juan is moving away from corporate structures to build games alongside the community. At Wondervault, he is blending his "ex-King" engineering excellence with a focus on empathy and empowerment. He believes that technical mastery and an indie heart belong together, and he is building a studio where players aren't just an audience, but part of the team.
